Republican Party of Texas Broke

Thu Dec 08, 2005 at 05:45:30 AM PDT

According to one of the candidates for State Party Chair, the Texas Republican Party is actually deep in the hole. Nate Crain is the guy who managed the decline of the party in Dallas County and now wants to fail upward into Austin, and he's doing it by attacking the current management.
His letter is here (thanks to quorum report).

Air America Coming to Memphis on Friday!

Wed Jan 26, 2005 at 10:01:42 AM PDT

http://memphis.bizjournals.com/memphis/stories/2005/01/24/daily19.html

This is the second Entercom station to pick up the format, so they must be doing well in Rochester. Given the number of other medium-to-small markets they own, maybe we're at the beginning of another dramatic increase in broadcast coverage.

Now, if somebody in Dallas would just wake up and put them on the air, so I can listen in my pickup.

Tonight's Killer Line from Kerry?

"Saddam Hussein told the truth about his Weapons of Mass Destruction---George Bush lied."

Boycott Omni Hotels and Gold's Gym!

Wed Sep 29, 2004 at 07:06:54 PM PDT

Progress for America Voter Fund is the evilest of the Republican 527's. Who gave them $1,000,000 last quarter? TRT Holdings, the owners of Omni Hotels and Gold's Gym. The Rowling family made a fortune buying and selling natural gas pipeline companies and oilfields, and have now moved into the leisure business.

Let's show them we don't support their right-wing fundie politics by simply declining to stay in their rooms or use their machines. There are other hotels and other gyms.

Happy Activity in Dallas County, Texas

Wed Sep 29, 2004 at 03:48:43 PM PDT

Visited (at their request) a nursing home in a heavily-Republican first-ring suburb in Dallas County today and filled out mail ballot requests and new voter registrations for 15 of the residents--only 2 of them were Republicans. The rest were interested in getting rid of Bush (and the two who wanted to vote for Bush I talked into supporting the D candidate for County Sheriff.)

Also registered 7 healthcare workers at this location, only 2 of whom had ever been registered before, and all of whom said they were voting for Kerry (and the entire D slate). I'm beginning to think that we should even visit high-end nursing homes, if only to register their employees, who understand the "two Americas" concept completely.

Granted, it doesn't mean we'll carry Texas, but it does show that the "red suburbs" aren't necessarily all that red.

Air America in Houston?

Fri Sep 10, 2004 at 06:56:30 PM PDT

Just heard from a buddy in the business that KBME in Houston (allegedly a Clear Channel station that plays oldies) is considering a switch to Air America.

This would be the first AA station in Texas.

Air America Coming to Asheville, NC

Thu Sep 09, 2004 at 06:50:02 PM PDT

Hey, that's two stations in NC--no wonder Kerry's cutting back his advertising there!

And, we have a liberal voice starting up in Denver (although it's not AAR).

Now, if we can just get into Orlando and Tampa. . .

Reform Party National Convention This Weekend

Fri Aug 27, 2004 at 03:34:46 PM PDT

The Reform Party's National Convention will be held this weekend at the Courtyard by Marriott (183 at Valley View Lane) in Irving this weekend. High on the agenda: the granting of ballot slots to Ralph Nader on the Reform Party line in those states where Reform has automatic access.

The Dallas County Democratic Party is organizing a protest on Saturday, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the hotel.

Come one, come all, and protest Ralph's part in the theft of the 2000 elections.
