Warning: Osama/Obama smear on NPR at 6:15 am

Thu Jun 26, 2008 at 04:41:11 AM PDT

I just heard Mara Liasson's report on NPR at 6:15 central time. She had a focus group of 12 swing voters. Seven of them said they voted for Clinton, five had not. She asked them about the race.

Crashing the Pews - One Way to Move on

Sat Jun 16, 2007 at 03:53:47 PM PDT

Yes, this post will be about church, but it's not what you think. Inspired by eugene's post about what's next in the movement for progressive values, I wanted to share about the work I am doing to make the United Methodist Church a more inclusive and progressive place.

Coronation in Cook County, IL (with poll)

Tue Jul 18, 2006 at 03:25:02 PM PDT

cross posted at Interesting and Helpful

I was at the Cook County Democratic Committee meeting today where Alderman Todd Stroger, son of County Board President John Stroger, was elected to succeed his father on the November ballot after President Stroger's stroke and withdrawl from office this spring.

There were about 80 voting members of the committee--50 ward committeemen from Chicago and 30 from the suburbs. There were also plenty of media and probably 60-80 public spectators.

The Players...

Kerry's 2-min answer on Iraq

Thu Sep 30, 2004 at 10:56:49 AM PDT

I couldn't sleep last night, woke up at 3:00 AM and just had to come up with the 2-minute answer for John Kerry to the debate question:

"Senator Kerry, what is your position on the war in Iraq?"

Here's what I came up with...

Time for the shadow cabinet?

Wed Sep 08, 2004 at 07:26:18 PM PDT

Problem: Cheney's "Vote or Die" speech the other day has been the Republican message all along. This is the Republican platform, until now disguised as "Bush will make us safer."

Chris Matthews was right tonight: if the Republicans can get away with actually saying what Cheney said, they will win. Toast.

Help make the case against Ashcroft

Mon Aug 02, 2004 at 10:27:34 AM PDT

Last Thursday, I had the chance to have a political disussion with a highly intelligent (lost in finals of Jeopardy Tournament of Champions) colleague from LA. In the course of our half-hour talk, he told me about how he LOATHED Hilary Clinton. I replied that I felt pretty similar about John Ashcroft, who, you know, has a bit more power as Attorney General than HRC did as first lady, and does as Senator.

His reply: What exactly, besides be extremely religious and sing poorly, has John Ashcroft done that is so wrong?

Press conference limerick

Wed Apr 14, 2004 at 02:04:59 PM PDT

Cries the press corps, "This president's loony!"
He won't answer; he just looks right through me!
He stammers, he shakes,
Says "I don't make mistakes,"
Then looks proud to pronounce Koizumi.

Hoping to get this published on Romenesko.

Red State/Blue State Dean comment

Fri Jan 23, 2004 at 03:14:43 AM PDT

I've seen it complimented in threads here, but can't find it in the Wash. Post transcript.
It's as if the last 10 minutes of the debate never happened. What exactly did Dean say?
